Jackpocket, the only licensed third-party lottery app in the US, has announced its app launch on the Google Play Store in the state of New York, making it the only third-party app approved by state lotteries available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Google introduced a new policy for its Google Play Store in March, allowing licensed real-money gaming apps, including officially sanctioned state lottery products.

CEO and Founder Peter Sullivan said: “Since the launch of Jackpocket in 2013, we have been deliberate in our decision to work closely with state regulators, and this has been especially true in New York and in our relationship with the New York State Gaming Commission.

“Our commitment to following the rules in order to safely and securely innovate the real money gaming space has led to this landmark moment that will make mobile lottery play even more accessible for all New Yorkers.”

With an estimated 108.5 billion apps downloaded in 2020 and an Android user base of nearly 130 million, the Google Play store will significantly increase Jackpocket’s reach.

When the Jackpocket app launched in the New York market in January 2021, new user growth surpassed what the app achieved in the year 2020, and sold 7% of all Powerball tickets in the state.
