The World Lottery Association (WLA) has provisionally accepted three new Regular Members and accepted three new Associate Members at its most recent meeting of its Executive Committee.

The three new Regular Members are Denmark’s Varelotteriet, Germany’s ODDSET Sportwetten GmbH, and Italy’s Lottomatica Scommese.

Meanwhile, the newest Associate Members are Malta’s EveryMatrix, South Africa’s Paytronix Systems (Pty) Ltd, and China Gaming Technology Co Ltd.

WLA Regular Members are organisations licensed/authorised to conduct lotteries and/or sports betting operations by a jurisdiction domiciled in a United Nations recognised state. Sales of games of chance and/or skill must account for the bulk of the organisation’s total annual gross revenues, and the majority of its net revenues must be devoted to the public good.

WLA membership applicants must be approved by the Executive Committee, at which point they are provisionally accepted into the association. This membership remains provisional until ratified by the delegates of the WLA’s biennial General meeting, which will next be held in October 2022.

Varelotteriet was founded in 1887 and is one of Denmark’s oldest lotteries. It was originally established to support the country’s artisans and craftsmen. Today, it raises funds for a wide variety of social causes.

ODDSET Sportwetten GmbH has been providing 16 German state lotteries with sports betting services for over 20 years. It operates around 15,000 points of sale in nine out of 16 of the country’s federal states and is accessible online and on mobile devices.

Lottomatica SpA offers a wide range of gaming products across all sales channels. It has one of the largest retailer networks in Europe and is an industry-leading company in all segments of operation.

The Lottomatica Group assumed its current name after the successful acquisition of IGT’s Italian B2C gaming activities by the Gamenet Group SpA back in May.

WLA Associate Membership is open to any goods or services supplier to state-controlled lottery or sports-betting operators, whose business practices fit with the association’s aims and objectives. Applications must be backed by at least two WLA member operators and receive final approval from the Executive Committee.
