Swedish national lottery operator Svenska Spel is collaborating with Esportshall and Elitserien to strengthen the grassroots in Swedish esports by arranging several cups aimed at players who have just started their esports journey.

The hope is that the collaboration will help lift the next generation of Swedish CS:GO players.

Jimmy Sandberg, Sponsorship Project Manager at Svenska Spel, commented: “Svenska Spel wants to be involved in developing Swedish esports, from grassroots to elite. We are therefore very happy to be able to help enable these grassroots cups at Esportshall together with Elitserien.

“We believe that giving the younger players a clear context to practice esports, where the club life is also present, is important going forward for Swedish esports.”

Karl Sergel, Founder of Esportshall, stated: “We are really looking forward to arranging these grassroots cups in collaboration with Elitserien at Esportshall’s physical facilities.”

Esportshall is Sweden’s first municipally supported esports training facility and collaborates with Uddevalla Municipality, Svenska Spel, Corsair, Lenovo and Intel. The facility works with skills transfer from Tier 1 esports to the grassroots where physical activity, healthy eating and sorority life are a natural part of esports.

Sergel added: “As hardcore CS fans, we have followed both Tommy ‘Potti’ Ingemarsson’s playing career and entrepreneurship in the Swedish Elitserien in CS:GO with great pleasure. When Esportshall went from idea to reality, it felt natural to do our part and support Sweden’s largest esports league by giving them access to our premises.”

Ingemarsson said: “We need more grassroots movements in Sweden in order for esports to grow and blossom to its full potential. Elitserien has in recent years successfully helped strengthen Swedish esports.

“Elitserien has already produced both players and teams that maintain a high international level. Therefore, we need more amateur competitions that continue to strengthen esports and allow beginners the chance to compete and develop. Therefore, we are pleased to present our collaboration with Esportshall and Svenska Spel.”

Starting from October 16, several grassroots cups will be held at Esportshall in collaboration with Elitserien, aimed at players who have just started esports and want to take it to the next level in an environment where all matches are played on LAN with Tier 1 equipment.
